The designers preserved the building’s marble mosaic floors and four concrete pillars, inserting birch plywood shelving between two of them to house records, while a timber unit between the other pair accommodates the main DJ booth. This thoughtful arrangement maintains the open-plan character of the space while creating distinct zones that enhance both listening and movement, hallmarks of well-considered listening bars.

“The overarching concept was about putting the music at the centre, both physically and conceptually,” explained Zota. Bar Ton is a subtle celebration of sound, architecture, and historical context, blending modern functionality with the heritage of its location to create a focused, immersive listening environment, the kind of experience that defines the best listening bars.

Goodbye Horses, UK, by Leopold Banchini Architects
