The wait is over! Pantone released its color of the year for 2021 and surprised. In fact, two colors were chosen for Pantone 2021: PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating yellow. Independently, the two colors stand out as different elements and come together to support each other. According to Pantone 2021, its combination expresses a message of strength, resilience and hope.
Table of Contents
If the announcement already causes curiosity every year, the tone for 2021 was even more expected, since 2020 was a completely atypical year because of the covid-19 pandemic. More than just a trend, Pantone’s color of the year is also a reflection on the changes and needs of the current moment:
”The color of the year is very much a statement of how the world is feeling “
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute defined the duo colors as practical and solid as a rock but, at the same time, comforting and optimisti. This is a combination of colors that gives us resilience and hope.
Yellow is nothing new, since this is the second time that the color appears among the company’s chosen ones along with the 2009 Mimosa hue. But this was the first time that a gray nuance was chosen. Complementing each other perfectly, the solid, eternal and calm Ultimate Gray brings stability, while the vibrant, lively and warm Illuminating is stimulating, giving energy to any decor.
The colors create an interesting contrast and can influence the way we see our spaces. With that in mind, we look for some ideas on how to bring illuminating and ultimate gray to home spaces. Whether to dare or incorporate them in a more subtle way.
Modern Living Room
For a living room space, use the Pantone 2021 colors to create a modern look. As gray sofa with yellow accents on the walls it will look cozy and create a striking space.
Bright reading space
If you really want to plunge headlong into illuminating, opt for a light armchair. Combine with a rug or illuminating and ultimate gra pillows for a great rest and reading area.
Inspiring gallery wall
Stream your creative ideas with pictures frames on Pantone 2021 colors. Add an ultimate gray or illuminating color seat to bring even more harmony to the environment.
Energizing workspace
Keep your decor up with a vibrant dose of ultimate gray on top of a illuminating wall in your homeoffice.

Ilse Crawford: The Art of Design
Ilse Crawford is a British designer, academic and creative director with a simple mission to put human needs and desires at the center of all that she does.
Although often described as an interior designer, Crawford’s portfolio contains projects ranging from a secluded garden for a Hong Kong restaurant to the conversion of a 100-year-old house in Stockholm into a boutique hotel.
Ilse Crawford started her career as a journalist and at only 27 she became the editor of Elle Decoration UK. After over a decade in magazines, with a mission to put human needs and desires back at the center of the design, she founded her multi-disciplinary practice Studioilse in 2001, which is her main business.
“Working for a magazine gave me a real on-the-ground education, an insight into what is actually successful. I saw so much new that I began to prioritize what would last and connect. I am still interested in the new, but I am also concerned about the relevant.”
“As the head of Studioilse, I mostly design interiors. But, in fact, we do a lot more than that here” Crawford said for Dezeen Magazine.
“Because, I think, interiors are ultimately where we live, they are a lot more than pieces of furniture. They’re really about the interior life, how we live as human beings.” In other words, it means designing furniture and products that support and enhance human behavior and actions in everyday life.
Crawford is the founder of the department of Man and Well-Being at the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven. Her mission extends to nurturing a new generation of students to always question why and how their work improves the reality of life.
She designed the Soho House club in New York, Babington House, the Electric Cinema, and the Hong Kong restaurant Duddell’s, as well as pieces for Georg Jensen.
Duddells’s by Ilse Crawford
It’s not a traditional restaurant & bar. Nor an art gallery. And it’s much more than an exclusive members’ club. Indeed, it’s a place where you pay a lot of money to be a part of, if you’re lucky to get in, since there is a massive waiting list. Despite Duddell’s undeniable opulence and grandeur, Crawford took her signature humanistic approach to design, where people are placed at the centre of the project.
Ilse Crawford received some awards throughout her career. Below, we highlight the most recent ones:
- Queen Elizabeth II awarded her an MBE for her services to interior design, in 2014.
- In 2015, she received a Doctorate honoris causa from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London
- Ilse Crawford was named Designer of the Year on September 2017.
Crawford was profiled in the first season of the Netflix docu-series – Abstract: The Art of Design. This is an original documentary series highlighting artists in the field of design. It was released on Netflix on February 10, 2017

Wellbeing Collection – Nanimarquina, 2019
Wellbeing is an organism of comforting textile products that support the human experience. All the items focus on tactility, materiality, craft and quality. They add warmth, softness and comfort to indoor environments, and a connection to the senses. The collection uses traditional techniques and crafted details that make the normal special.
Ett Hem Hotel – Stockholm, 2012
Conversion of a former Arts & Crafts building into a 12-bedroom guesthouse. It is a place to stay for the modern traveller, a home away from home, where flexibility of space and function is central to the hotel’s operation.
First Class Airline Lounge – Hong Kong, 2015
Throughout the lounge every detail has been considered to ensure the passenger experience is friction-free and enables them to slow down and feel good, before getting on their flight.

Earth Tones Trend: Interior Décor
Earth Tones Trend
Right now décor magazines, furniture brands, and interior designers are telling you what the must-have trends are. Rich, earth tones imbue this new season with a cozy and natural ambiance.
The beauty of earth tones in furniture is often overlooked, but it can be used to create an inviting and calming atmosphere in any room. Earth tones evoke natural and organic feelings, while still maintaining a certain level of sophistication and modernity.
The neutral colors paired with warm and cool tones can be used to create any look from earthy boho to classic elegance. Whether you’re trying to give a room a natural, soothing vibe or a vibrant and edgy feel, earth tones in the furniture can be the difference between an average room and an unforgettable space.
Once summer arrives, we are loving the idea of adding more neutral shades to the interior décor.
Looking for a natural touch in your home? Try to mix earth tones and nature-inspired elements with contemporary details. You will be astonished by the result.
Your home should be the most comfortable place in the world, where you can relax and feel like you’re in a retreat. Say Hi to the summer with this warm color.
Earth tones will work with everything in your living set but we especially think it looks so chic when paired with a modern style. Also, terracottas, mustard, cozy reds, sultry grays, olive green and earthy browns infuse spaces with energy and warmth, two things that are always good to have in a room, no matter the season.
Even more, we see deep green hues coming to the fore. Then, play up the color with matching plants.
Indeed, layered neutral-tone rugs of varying origins are having a moment. It’s a look that works in almost every home, adding a subtle hit of global style.
Furthermore, mix materials. Use a vintage and reclaimed-timber piece and place it right alongside modern wood creations. It will look so lit. It promotes the mixing of old and new woods that are completely in contrast to one another.
For those who want a more elemental, nature-inspired hue with a contemporary twist in their home, the earth tones will truly shine. This is both casual and refined.

Think, above all, about the composition of the project. For example, mixing some furniture materials is an interesting alternative that highlights the style of your bar. Remember that the composition must be in balance to not over do it.

Thinking about functionality when we talk about swivel bar chairs, is the fact that they can offer different applications in terms of usability, changing usage, service dynamics, among other aspects. It’s even valid to have a little daring in this regard, to add more value to your business.
For example, bar chairs with additional supports and compartments designed for utensils can make serving easier. A chair or bench with support for bags can also enrich the experience of those who frequent the environment.

The classic style is timeless. If the pieces of furniture are well chosen and the set is well organized, you can have the classic bedroom of your dreams for many years. And if you want to remodel, just a few accessories and textiles are enough to have a renewed space!
2. Industrial Bedroom Décor

The industrial Bedroom Décor style brings exposed bricks and pipes, burnt cement and lots of iron in harmony in a space. So if you want to apply the industrial style in your bedroom you can get inspired with the project that we selected for you.
3. Boho
To compose a bedroom with a boho style, care must be taken so that the result is not too polluted. Since style allows us to use blankets of various colors and textures, vintage lamps, colorful furniture, patterned wallpapers and more. Remembering that everything must be designed in a combined way.
Taking inspiration from a color chart is the best option in keeping a decorative line to your bedroom. For example, for those who prefer cool colors, choose to use the shades of green and blue with intensity and let the small details stay on account of the warmer colors.
4. Minimalist
Minimalism focuses on what is essential and relevant. That is, elements that have a certain functionality within the bedroom. Organization is also a fundamental factor when decorating a room with a minimalist trend, which values quality over quantity. That way, if you want to follow and elaborate this timeless style in your Bedroom Décor, see this tip that will help in choosing.
5. Contemporary
To create a contemporary space, it’s important to have furniture with straight and wide lines. Pieces with bold design can also help to build spaces with this type of personality. However, daring choices must always take into account a balance with the rest of the decor.
6. Cottage Décor
A bedroom cottage decor is a great way to bring a cozy and comfortable atmosphere into your home. This style of decor usually features light, airy colors such as whites, creams, and pastels. Natural materials like wood, wicker, and rattan are often used for furniture pieces as well as wall accents. Textiles like linen or cotton can be used to create curtains or bedding that adds texture and color to the room. Finishes like distressed paint or whitewash can give the room an aged look that adds character and charm. Overall, a bedroom cottage decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation and restful sleep.
7. Rustic
Rustic decor for a bedroom can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The colours of rustic decor are typically warm and earthy, such as shades of brown, beige, cream, grey and black. These tones can be combined with natural materials like wood, stone and metal to create an inviting space.
Wood is the most popular material used in rustic bedroom decor. You can use wooden furniture pieces such as dressers, nightstands and bed frames to give your room a classic look. You can also add wood accents like wall panels or decorative shelves for extra texture.
Natural finishes such as oiled or waxed wood will bring out the beauty of the grain pattern in the wood. Rustic bedroom decor is all about creating an inviting atmosphere with warm tones and natural materials that evoke feelings of comfort and relaxation in any home setting.
With careful consideration of colour palettes, materials, finishes and accessories you can easily create a beautiful rustic retreat in any bedroom!
